‘Vikings’ Season 4 Part 2: Episode 16 Recap, “Crossings”

Welcome to the recap for Episode 16, entitled “Crossings,” of Season 4 Part 2 of Vikings.

So, you know karma is a bitch when you realise Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) killed Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) not because it was the Viking thing to do, but because she had an idea in her head that by taking out the competition, Ragnar would return from England and join her as joint ruler of Kattegat again.

Now, instead, Lagertha has the Seer’s (John Kavanagh) prophecy that she will be killed by one of Ragnar’s sons ringing in her ears as she tries to fortify Kattegat.

While Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh) brings news of Ragnar’s death, everyone is a bit unsure because they have obviously watched too much TV and since Ivar didn’t see the death occur in Episode 15 of Vikings  then it didn’t happen. That is until the one-eyed man turns up and lets everyone know Ragnar died. Because the one-eyed man is Odin and no one second guesses Odin.

Besides all the complications arising with Ragnar’s death, Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) has had his thunder stolen by his father again. Just when he was raiding the Mediterranean and fucking shit up, Odin brings news of his father’s death and it seems entirely likely Bjorn will be back in Kattegat by Episode 17 of Vikings.

However short the trip to Algeciras in Spain was, we still managed to get a lesson about Muslims by Duke Rollo (Clive Standen) and get reminded that Harald Finehair (Peter Franzen) is just there so he can take out the Lothbroks and become the high ruler of all Norway.

We also discover that Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) just might be losing his religion thanks to crashing a prayer circle. Helga (Maude Hirst) also wants to have more children. Floki says no but she picks up a Spanish orphan anyway.

In England, while King Ecbert (Ivan Kaye) is nowhere to be found, King Ecbert (Linus Roache) is as smug as fuck thinking he is safe from Viking retaliation. He is also sending his son into war after Aethelwulf (Moe Dunford) suggests Ragnar might not be Ecbert’s bestie. Once more in Vikings, Ecbert is trying to kill off his son.
